I just got back from an 8 day Epiphany tour with the seminary Kantorei. The Kantorei is a 16 voice choir made up of seminarians. I was in the Kantorei when I was a fourth year seminarian. This time I was their preacher. Set in the friendly confines of evening prayer, the service consisted of ten choir pieces, four Bible lessons, and two meditations. Our final stop will be at Kramer Chapel this Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 4 PM. Come join us if you can!
Our journey took us to Billings, Montana through Wyoming and then ending in Denver, Colorado. The choir did a fantastic job. I was in awe of the wonderful people in our church as we stopped at various congregations. (The group stayed in congregation member homes while we traveled.) The love of God was alive as we witnessed the children singing and participating in the mysteries of God. One stop in Sheridan, WY was especially joyful as the children wanted to sing hymns before bed. Only one of the girls could read, but all three sang - loudly and clearly and from memory. One of the hymns was, “I am baptized into Christ.” It was the children that asked for the singing…what a joy to have hymns that teach the faith and hymns that our children demand we sing.
Let us continue to pray for the children of our church, that they be showered with instruction and love in the faith we call so dear.
