For those of us who believe in the sanctity of life, the Roe v. Wade decision of January 22, 1973 was a dark day in
By nature, God has made women to be nurturing human beings. For short periods of time, some women say they have been able to turn off these nurturing qualities. In my lifetime, regardless of their age, I have seen very few adult females who have not melted at the sight of a precious newborn child or smiled at the sight of a toddler, etc. It is part of being a woman. Part of God’s plan and design for females.
Whether we are male or female, scripture tells us in Jeremiah 1:5 [show]Jeremiah 1:5
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations."
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” We are all designer children —designed by God for a special purpose.
Although the Roe v. Wade decision happened in the USA thirty five years ago, I find it interesting that today childless women in Britain and elsewhere (via the internet) are designing and purchasing life size realistic baby dolls. For several hundred dollars, you can have a “child.” With the advancement of plastics, you can purchase “a fake baby” perfect in size, weight and proportions to a full term child. These are lovingly referred to as a “re-born.” When you no longer have those maternal feelings, you can place your child on the shelf as a collectible. Ironically, some of these childless women are so because of complications due to a botched abortion or repeated abortions which left them unable to conceive.
Any thoughts?

I have been reborning for almost 6 years and have NEVER yet met a woman (customer or fellow artist) who shared any information such as what you are claiming re:abortion(s)
How many legitimate reborn artists and/or collectors have you actually spoken with???? I think you are taking advantage of a situation (the most recent reporting on reborn artistry) and turning it around to meet your needs. … such a sad situation in which you have placed yourself.
Try gathering REAL, TRUE information. Then people will be more apt to see your side (maybe.)
Incidentally, I am NOT pro-abortion. I AM pro-truth and pro-honesty!
Love and Blessings,
Jan
(a disabled reborn artist and loving mother to 3 grown daughters and their husbands, a grandma to1 grandchild, and another on the way!) God IS Good!
For those of you who have never seen a reborn or the deep interaction that can take place between a woman and her reborn as she dresses, cuddles, and on occasion proudly shares her “child” in public to others, please visit My Fake Baby on YouTube.
Artists like Jan who turn ordinary dolls into such realistic creations are truly talented individuals. They have an eye for detail. I personally do not know an artist who has ventured into this arena.
It was while I was surfing radio channels that one caller’s story caught my ear as she was expressing her love for her reborn. At the time, I had never heard of them. As she continued to share her story, she did relay how her repeated abortions as a young teen had left her unable to conceive and how her reborn allowed her the opportunity to hold “a child of her own.” She had helped in designing her “son” and he was special because he came equipped with a breathing mechanism and warmer. With a proud and loving tone in her voice, she told the radio host, “He is beautiful. He is mine. I am looking forward to having a brother or sister for him. They will be the babies I never had.”
She indicated that there were other reborn “moms” just like her. Regardless of the number, the truth remains that abortion does leave its mark. For many women, there is a void that even years later needs to be filled. Abortion is not without victims. For me, one lost child is one too many.

Hi Marsha,
I’d like a reference to where you found this information, please. Thanks.
My earlier comment makes reference to at least one woman who suffers in this matter and also is a consumer of at least one reborn baby. She indicated that she is not alone in this regard. Medicial research lists one possible complication of an abortion is the inability to conceive.
I think the real emphasis is on the word “some”. Some purchasers of the reborns are childless women. Of those childless women, some are unable to conceive. Of those who can not conceive, some may be so because of abortion complications.
I never intended to imply a certain or a high percentage. I do not have a written source listing data in regards to how many of the women purchasing reborns havae had abortions.
I do know that the lady who was on the talk show sharing her story intriqued me with her deep commitment to her reborn. I know she shared that her inability to conceive was due to repeated abortions. I know she said she did not suffer alone in this regard. For that reason, the word “some” seemed appropriate.
In response to Charles’ comment, abortion has been linked to infertility for some women. Most women, however, who have abortions can later conceive. Many other factors lead to infertility, and abortion is one of them.
The link between abortion and breast cancer, as evidenced in this article: http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/abc.html is even stronger than the link between abortion and infertility.
All I have to say about those fake babies is they are creepy!

Thanks for clarifying on your speculation. It sounds like you were lucky to find this one person as an example for the point you wanted to make tying women who’ve had abortions to this “reborn” movement.
Judy, I’m aware of what that site states, and also the controversy surrounding the accuracy of the data reported on the site. Thanks for providing the link, though.
“Indeed, it appears likely that women experience a wide variety of psychological reactions to abortion.” This was a quote taken from a Research site from the above website. While it doesn’t mention specific reactions, I would posit that reborning “could be” a step in the emotional healing process.
The website is informative, and has a bibliography for further investigation. However, it is important from not just a pro-life standpoint, but a Christian one to know that no sin has gone unforgiven for those who believe Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. Even for those who struggle to believe, are angry, sad and despairing- their hope is in the name of the Lord. While we are emotional creatures, our foundation is not in our feelings, or our actions. But it is in Christ’s atoning action of love, his crucifixion, that nailed every one of our sins to the cross with Him.
I spent some time volunteering at a Crisis Pregnancy Center, and the thing I remember most about our training, is to give these women the truth about what is going on, from a holistic standpoint. The consequences of an abortion are not just physical, but emotional, psychological, and spiritual…not just for the mother, but father as well. One thing the website points out that backs up this point, is that the reactions to the affect of an abortion sometimes are radically delayed.. But, there have been 70 year old women who have called the pregnancy center, crying, and confessing to having had an abortion 50 years ago. And thanks be to God we can offer women the comfort of the Gospel, telling of Christ’s forgiveness, praying with them, and directing them to a pastor for Holy Absolution.
If anything, I think if I were to see a woman with a reborn baby, that would be a cue, a conversation peice-to begin a relationship with her that could bring about any kinds of hurts; whether a woman is barren or post-abortive.
