The things of earth entice and the pleasures it offers occupies your heart and mind. Stones to clog your road…darkness descended upon your way. And the highways have become ruined. Grace was planned and the Lord elected to show his love to man. He didst skip the angels and choose instead to shower light upon you. And so a word from heaven. The time has come. Prepare those ruined highways, remove the stones, prepare the people. The gracious hand of God, that created you, formed you, and made you - now picks you as his own. A signal is lifted up over you. For your sake God came to earth…to make you his forever. And so with angel song to praise the Lord, God becomes the Son of Mary. The glory of the Lord lights your sky and angels cry: “Christ is born!” And the whole heavenly host fill the air NOW with joy ringing. God’s own Son comes from above to suffer lowly for one and all-removing God’s displeasure. All your sin to the cross - shedding blood - suffering loss and for your life he tenders all: It is finished. You are freed! You are freed…all stand beside the manger deep. The grace planned for you is here. God comes to mortal birth, your life from heaven. His body is bread to nourish and his blood your drink - redeeming you from darkness. Behold you have been sought out and lifted high above the ways of the earth. He has shown to the world his truth and merciful kindness. Rejoice O ye lands and ye peoples - God comes among you and calls you. You shall live…with Jesus…singing songs of gladness. Rejoice O ye peoples! This day God calls you his holy people. Alleluia!
