“You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God”

The Apostle Peter’s confession is the center of Christian worship. It is upon that confession that the Church is built and that the Church continues to triumph in the midst a dark and sneaky world. We receive our life through the Son of the Living God. It comes from no other. If we don’t know Jesus, we don’t know the Father and we are walking on the wrong “way.” Our world doesn’t like it that God has a Son, but He does. Jesus, both true man and true God, is our Lord. That is the confession that pours forth from the mouth of a Christian. It is only by the Holy Spirit that one confesses Jesus as Lord. The blood of God pouring down from the cross is the only salvation the world has. Muslims, Mormons, and Jews don’t have this sweet comfort. Sweet comfort from heaven only comes through the God-man, Jesus. Our worship is Jesus taking care of us. We preach Christ crucified and we receive Christ crucified in bread and wine. These are staples, non-negotiable means by which Christ feeds and cares for the Church. The Church must continue to preach the Son of the Living God as Lord. It is the bride of Jesus and without Him, she is nothing - just like the world. Concordia Theological Seminary just hosted a conference entitled, “Christians and the Challenge of Islam.” You can order DVDs of the conference by contacting retreats@ctsfw.edu.

What you write is so rich and full that whenever I read these I feel sad that you are not in a pulpit every Sunday morning bringing these things to God’s people. Thanks for posting.
